Obituary for Judith A. Hempt (Shorb)
Judith S. Hempt, 73, of New Cumberland entered into God’s eternal rest and peace on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late George F. Hempt.
Born November 11, 1943, in York, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ellen F. Shorb.
Mrs. Hempt graduated from Shippensburg University with a B.S. in education and a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and taking numerous trips to her beloved shore house with her loving friends and family.
Judith dedicated a lot of her time to volunteer work and helping others. She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and their altar guild. Judith volunteered with AARP every year in tax preparation, was on the Board of Directors for the Girls Club of Greater Harrisburg, Tri County Association for the Blind, and the Junior League of Harrisburg. She also was on the Board of Governors for Camp Shikellimy YMCA and on the executive committee for the PA Association for the Blind.
Judith is survived by a son, Max J. and wife Amy of Carlisle; a daughter, Christine Murphy of Mechanicsburg; 3 grandchildren, Ellen, George, and Samantha; 4 nephews and 1 niece.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, with Pastor Jack Horner officiating. A visitation with Judith’s family will be held in the church on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
