Obituary for Virginia Lee

Virginia Lee
Dr. Virginia E. Lee, 54, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017, in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born on May 21, 1963, in York, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Sue Y. Lee, and the late Dr. Poy L. Lee.

Virginia graduated from Red Lion Area Senior High School in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Thereafter, she attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she earned her B.A. degree in biology. Following in the footsteps of her father, she then enrolled in Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia where she earned her D.M.D. Subsequent to dental school, Virginia went on to complete a six-year residency training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery from University of Maryland Medical Center and from R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Virginia moved to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area establishing Capital Oral and Facial Surgery Center where she practiced for 20 years. The many patients who grew to know and respect Virginia are truly a testament to her devotion to her profession as well as her personal dedication to all those who came under her care.

To her family and friends, Virginia was beautiful, both inside and out. Her ebullient personality was sure to bring a warm smile to all who knew her. Not one to sit around, she heartily embraced golfing, swimming, running, skiing, yoga and Pilates. Virginia excelled in every area, from the highly technical aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery to the daily routine tasks of gardening, baking and knitting. She was the consummate optimist with an indomitable never-give-up spirit. In fact, the very things that made Virginia so easy to love are the very same things that make it so difficult to let her go.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Jeffrey Santone, of Arlington, Virginia. She is lovingly remembered by her mother and by her four sisters’ families: Gertrude, Bob, and Paul Dubanski; Patricia Walker; Victoria, Colin and Ethan White; and June, Dennis, Brady and Bridget Cullen.

A memorial service is being planned and will be held on December 9, 2017 in Arlington, Virginia. Virginia had a special place in her heart for dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virginia may be made to the SPCA of Northern Virginia at www.spcanova.org.
