Obituary for George A. Smith

George A.  Smith
George A. Smith, 96, of Camp Hill, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at Holy Spirit Hospital.

He was born in York Springs, PA, on November 24, 1921 to the late George P. and Marion (Boyer) Smith.

George graduated from York Springs High School and enlisted in the US Army. He served as a Medic in WWII. After his discharge, George served the Central PA area as a Real Estate and Insurance Broker for more than 50 years.

George married the love of his life, June (Nelson) Smith and they were married for 62 years until her death in 2010. George was a 60 year member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Dillsburg. He was also a member of the West Shore Elks, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the FOPA 41. George was a Zembo Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Perseverance Lodge No. 21.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was proceeded in death by his son, George J. Smith, and step-daughter Diane Peck.

George is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Barton, and companion John Kambic, of Enola, PA; and Ginger Smith, and husband Rich Troutman, of Swarthmore, PA. Grandchildren Kara, and Benjamin Troutman, Jill Mallon and husband Andy, and Heather Smith. And a great granddaughter Jaidyn Stickler.
Also surviving is George’s caring friend Nancy Loetterle.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill, PA. A viewing will be held in the funeral home, Monday from 10:30 until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at St John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
