John A.  Judge
John A. Judge, 84, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, after a long battle with cancer on Thursday December 21, 2017.
Born on April 15, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late John O. and Gertrude (Maxwell) Judge.
John was a graduate of Lemoyne High School, Shippensburg State Teachers College, Alpha Phi Omega, and Temple University. He is a member and past council member of Grace Lutheran Church, Highland Park, Camp Hill. He served in the U.S. Navy working in the Legal and Air Intelligence units while serving on the USS Mississippi (EAG 128) and Fleet Air Wing 5 for Commander Fleet Air Wings Atlantic, Naval Air Station, Norfolk, VA.
John is survived by his loving wife Loline (Starner) Judge, of Camp Hill. They recently celebrated their 62-year wedding anniversary. They have two daughters, Elaine J. Macedonia (David), of Madison, AL; and Ann J. Masood (James), of Fredonia, NY; a sister, Marilyn Donaldson (Jerry), of NJ; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, CAPT John W. Judge, USN, Ret., and his daughter, Loline J. Sechevich.
He retired as chairman of the Business Education Dept. at Camp Hill High School after serving 33 years. He is a past President of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees of Cumberland County and the Pennsylvania State Business Education Association.
He was an officer of Pilgrim Chapter, Order of DeMolay and served as Scribe & Advisor of West Shore Chapter, Order of DeMolay. He was awarded the degree of Chevalier, Cross of Honor and Legion of Honor. He is a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, a life member of (West Shore Masonic Lodge # 681) Eureka -West Shore #302, and Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg, PA. He served in numerous capacities at Zembo, serving as Colonel of the Units, Ceremonial and Circus Executive Committee, and Aide to many Potentates. John is a past secretary of the Mounted Patrol, served as past President of Mid Atlantic Shrine Association of Horse Patrols and received the MASAHP outstanding Shriner of the Year. He rode his horse in the Rose Bowl Parade on three occasions after Zembo Mounted Patrol won first place in the Shrine Parade competition. He was a member of the Executives Club of Central PA and Zembo Luncheon Club. John was a member of the Cumberland Co. and York Co. Shrine Clubs and the Carlisle Kiwanis Club. He was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Camp Hill Pool Manager from 1959-1985. He was a member of the Harrisburg Navy League and the US Naval Academy Sailing Squadron, serving as an Off-Shore Sail Coach. He is Secretary Emeritus of Harrisburg Chapter #76 and received the Outstanding Secretary of the year 1999 by National Sojourners Inc., Alexandria, VA. He is a member of Post #7530 VFW, L. Allen Twp., and he was proud of his military associations. In his spare time, he enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, traveling, model railroading, horseback riding and being with his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday December 28, 2017 in Grace Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA, 17011, with Pastor Virginia Cover officiating. A visitation with the family will be held in the church on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A Masonic Service will be conducted just prior to the start of the funeral service. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3551 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
