Obituary for Ronold E. Palese

Ronold E. Palese, 68, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Thursday December 21, 2017 at Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach.
Born on January 22, 1949 in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Eugenio and Bertha R. (Zerance) Palese.
Ron was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. He went on to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked for the Harrisburg Catholic Diocese as a Teacher at Holy Name of Jesus School. Ron moved on from the Diocese to work for the Defense Logistics Agency at the Department of Defense, from which he retired. Ron was a devoted Civil War Reenactor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Janet (Smith) Palese, of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Dawn E. Gilkerson and her husband Andy, of Delta, CO; four sons, Kevin Earl of Redford, MI, Matthew Earl and his wife Caryn, of Chambersburg, PA, Erick Palese and his wife Ashley, of Hagerstown, MD, and Jeffery Palese and his wife Tabatha, of Midway Park, NC; and five grandchildren, Brody, Samuel, and Jacob Earl, and Hailey and Benedict Palese.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday January 5, 2018 at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St, Gettysburg, PA 17325. A visitation with the family will also be held on Saturday January 6th at the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, 30 W. High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325, starting at 9:00 A.M., followed by the funeral at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jay Zimmerman officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday January 6th at Resurrection Cemetery, 116 S Oak Grove Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to a charity of your choice.
