Christine Giannaris, 83, of Lemoyne, passed away on Tuesday April 10,2018 at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg. Christine was a beautiful woman who had a passion for life. Born on August 17, 1934 in Piraeus, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Pareskevas and Fotini (Gretsa) Paraskevopoulos. During her childhood in Greece she lived through WWII and the Greek Civil War prior to coming to America at the age of 19. Soon after arriving in Harrisburg she met her husband George. They married in 1956 and became partners in love and life. They owned and operated the Belmont, Coronet and Maverick restaurants in Harrisburg. She also worked as a seamstress for Mary Sachs clothing store. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill and a member of the Philoptohos Society. She was very involved in the Greek community. She and George loved to travel and spend time at their home in Florida. Christine also enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Christine’s greatest love was her children and grandchildren. Devoted to her family, Christine’s daughters and son admired their mother’s beauty, strength and courage. Christine also adored her grandchildren and they adored their “Yiaiyia”. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George A. Giannaris of Lemoyne: a son Paul Giannaris and his wife Stavroula, of Harrisburg; two daughters, Tina O’Malley and her husband Thomas, of Mechanicsburg; and Maria Gregory and her husband Mark, of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Christina and Alexandra Thalassinos, Maxwell, Benjamin, and Sophia Gregory, Georgios and Angelos Giannaris; brother-in-law Konstantinos Giannaris and wife Tina; sister-in-law Fotini Giannaris; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Basilios and George, and a sister Anna and brother-in-law Nicholas Giannaris

Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA, 17011, with the Rev. Michael Varvalis as Cathedral Dean. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow the service at East Harrisburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
