Obituary for Robert Jones
Robert Jones, 84, of Lemoyne, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 14, 1933 in Port Washington, NY, Robert was the son of the Samuel and Pearl May (McDermott) Jones.
After high school Robert went on to work as a plumber, a career he followed until the family moved to central Pennsylvania in 1976. Robert and his wife Emmie opened the Blue Dog Pet shop the following year offering pet supplies and dog grooming services until their retirement. Following his retirement, he worked for RF Fager Company for 17 years - and was known as being the “go to” advisor for many customers there.
Bob was an avid motorcycle rider and with his wife Emmie, made many cross-country trips on their bikes. They also had a great love for dogs, and bred and showed Champion Kerry Blue Terriers for many years.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Emmie (Van der Eynden) Jones, Bob is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jones) Thomas and husband David, and son Gary Jones and wife Melonie. Also surviving are 2 granddaughters, Cheri (Thomas) Daniel and husband Marc, and Tracy (Thomas) Whitmoyer and husband Matt. Also 2 grandsons, Robert M. Jones and wife Beth, and Christopher Jones and wife Tammy. Also surviving are 6 great-grandchildren Ellie, Colin, Madeline, Chloe, Danielle and Eric.
Also surviving is his sister Joyce (Jones) Dooley, of Columbia South Carolina.
In addition to his parent, Robert was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Everett Jones and Samuel Jones Jr.
A celebration Of Robert’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Mt. Calvary Episcopal Church, 125 N. 25th Street, Camp Hill. A visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be held following the service at the church columbarium. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
There will be light refreshment served after the burial in the church under-croft.
