Obituary for Dr. William (Pat) Dohoney

Dr. William (Pat)  Dohoney
Dr. William “Pat” Dohoney, 94, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle. Pat was born on October 23, 1923 in Harrisburg. He was the son of the late William D. and Eva E. (Selheimer) Dohoney. He was a graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg and went on to attend Pennsylvania State University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was a graduate of Lebanon Valley College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. Pat was a POW Veteran of the US Army. During his military service he was awarded the Prisoner of War Medal, a Purple Heart, and a Bronze Star. He was also an officer in the US Air Force and served both domestically and abroad. Pat was a retired dentist and the owner of Dohoney Family Dentistry that started in Harrisburg and eventually moved to Camp Hill. He was a Mason with membership at the Valley of Harrisburg, A.A.S.R., the Harrisburg Consistory, A.A.S.R., the Blue Lodge, and Zembo Shrine. He was also proud to be a member of Mensa International. Pat loved to read, travel in his RV with his wife, attend Penn State football games, and play a round of golf at the West Shore Country Club. He was a history buff and was a Lutheran in faith.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine M. (Straley) Dohoney, of Carlisle; a daughter, Susan L. Elicker and her husband Dan, of Camp Hill; a granddaughter, Danielle Rosensweig and her husband Dr. Jon, of Delray Beach, FL; and two great-granddaughters, Addison and Alexis Rosensweig.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace, located on the grounds of Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, with Rev. Paul L. Herring officiating. A viewing will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service in the Chapel of Peace. Military honors will be conducted at the end of the service.
