Gayle E.  Howard (Rickert)
Gayle Eileen (Rickert) Howard, 74, of Harrisburg passed away May 21st after an extended illness. Daughter of the late William Rickert and the late Floyde Williams of Altoona, PA. She was also preceded in death by her step-father Charlie Duncan and her step-brother, Jerry Duncan. She graduated from Knoch High School in 1961 and attended Allegheny College as an art major, before later completing her studies at Penn State Harrisburg. After raising her children, she worked as a Technical Librarian at Commonwealth Bank and as a Technical Writer for various government subcontractors. She then worked until retirement as a Management Analyst for the Commonwealth Department of Public Welfare. Her interests included art, organic gardening, environmentalism and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter Lynn Howard of Edgewater, MD, son Boyd Howard (Melissa) of Camp Hill, grandchildren Carys and Rowan, and a host extended family and friends. Gayle was forever warm and caring, always putting her concern for others before herself. She will be lovingly remembered by the many people whom she touched and influenced. A private burial was held at the Port Matilda cemetery. A contribution in her memory may be made to PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture, the Cultural Enrichment Fund, or a charity of your choice.
