Obituary for James E. Fickel

James E.  Fickel
James (Jim) Edward Fickel Sr. of Lemoyne died peacefully at home on the 27th of May 2018 at the age of 87. Jim was born on the 21st of December 1930 in Camden, NJ to the late Clifton and Mary (Hockenberry) FIckel. He graduated from Lemoyne High School in 1948 and from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1952. He was married for 61 years to Leona, whom he met at A.S. McCreath and Sons where they both worked. Jim worked at McCreath for more than 50 yrs. Jim was a laboratory technician with the US Army during the Korean War, president of Herman Ave Elementary PTA, and was a member of Lemoyne JCs, West Shore Lodge No. 302 F&AM and Tall Cedars of Lebanon #43, the America Legion and a life-long member of Lemoyne Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jim was most active with the West Shore Lions Club where he served as President in 1971-72 and 1984-85. Jim loved the outdoors, whether it was working in the yard, developing the Lions Clubs Christmas Tree Farm, or hunting trips to Perry County.
Jim is survived by his wife Leona, sons James Fickel Jr (Jean), Shiremanstown, PA, Keith Fickel, Lewisberry, PA, and Todd Fickel (Letitia), Christchurch, New Zealand and by six grandchildren; Kevin, Justin, Samuel, Natalia (Cody Davis), Joshua, Andrew, and one great grandson, Brantley. He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Fickel Cummins.
A visitation and service will be held on Tuesday 5th of June 2018 at 10 AM at the Rife Center, Bethany Village, 325 Wesley Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA followed by interment at Rolling Green Cemetery.
