Paul G.  Giannaris
Paul (Apostolos) George Giannaris, 59, of Harrisburg PA passed away suddenly on Saturday August 18, 2018. Paul was a loving and devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was his two boys, spending countless hours playing soccer, coaching their teams, playing board games and loving his role as a father. Born on August 22, 1958 in Harrisburg PA, he was the son of George A. Giannaris and the late Christine (Paraskevopoulos) Giannaris. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Stavroula Boura Giannaris originally of Athens, Greece and his sons George Apostolos Giannaris, 18 years old and Angelos Apostolos Giannaris, 10 years old. Along with his two sisters, Tina Giannaris O’Malley, Maria Gregory, he also had many nieces and nephews both here and in Greece.
Paul earned a business degree from Lebanon Valley College and was employed by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General in the comptrollers department. Prior to this he was an owner and operator of the Maverick Restaurant, a family business that had been passed down by his parents. He also enjoyed being a referee for the Capital Area Soccer Referee Association.
Paul was a quiet, gentle soul with a compassion for those less fortunate. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. He was very proud of his Greek heritage and enjoyed traveling to Greece with his family. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and served as the treasurer of A.H.E.P.A (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association). He enjoyed playing soccer in the Capital Area Soccer League and was a fan of Olympiakos and West Ham United.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 24 in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA, 17011, with the Rev. Michael Varvarelis as Cathedral Dean. A viewing will be held in the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paul and Stavroula’s children, George and Angelos, to help with educational costs. Please mail checks made payable in George or Angelos name to Merrill Lynch, 214 Senate Ave. 5th floor, Camp Hill, PA 17011
