Obituary for John F. West

John F. West, 68, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away surrounded by his family, on Thursday August 29, 2019 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.

Born on June 12, 1951 in Natick, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Chauncey F. and Geraldine (Fecteau) West.

John was a graduate of Central York High School in York, PA. He went on to complete the Respiratory Therapy Program at York Hospital. John was retired from Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he was a Licensed Respiratory Therapist for 38 years. John was a big baseball fan and loyal supporter of the Boston Red Sox. He had a passion for Volvo cars and owned several in his lifetime. When he wasn’t spending time with his family and his loyal dog Karma, he enjoyed watching true crime shows, fishing, and golfing.

John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deborah A. Smith, of Camp Hill, PA; two daughters, Courtney L. West and her husband Jason Guillet, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Anna C. West and her husband Daniel Hauck, of Mechanicsburg, PA; four sisters, Marlene Wallace, of Massachusetts, Polly McDonald, of California, Janet Rockwell and her husband Murray, of Indiana, and Mary Jo Manifold and her husband David, of York, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by an infant son, Evan F. West.

All are invited to attend a visitation with John’s family to be held from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday September 4, 2019 in the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St., Camp Hill, PA. A celebration of John's life will be held at a date later this fall.
