Robert “Bob” E. Burns, 86, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022. Born on November 15, 1935, in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Marcella (Fry) Burns.
Robert graduated from Pottsville Catholic School with the Class of 1953. He attended Penn State University and gained a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Bob would go on to work as a civil engineer working on highways and bridges.
Robert was a long-time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill, PA. He was an airplane pilot in his free time, who also deeply enjoyed studying the history of the Second World War. Most importantly, Bob was a kind and gentle man to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Ibach) Burns; one daughter, Deborah Davis and her husband Russell, of Bensalem, PA; one son, Robert Burns; one brother, Edward Burns and his wife Mary Kay, of Pottsville, PA; one sister, Joan Lewis and her husband Gregory, of Sinking Spring, PA; five grandchildren: Shawn Davis and his wife Sarah of North Wales, PA, Kevin Davis and his wife Aubrey DiCrecchio of Oreland, PA, Ryan Davis and his wife Mackenzie Murray, of Langhorne, PA, and Carly Burns and Nina Burns, both of Dillsburg, PA; one great-grandson, Liam Davis, of North Wales, PA; three nephews: Ted Burns, Michael Burns, and Gregory Lewis; and two nieces: Valerie Kestner and Traci Sievenpiper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 E Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA, 17011. Interment will follow the service at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill, PA, 17011.
